When days are still warm and bright, salads appear on my lunch table.
Light and fresh, easy to prepare, colorful. Nothing fancy but rather quick, efficient and new every day.
On their stands, farmers are still selling the best of summer fare: tomatoes, bell peppers, peaches. Huge watermelon next to tiny blueberries. I couldn't resist buying the last watermelon.
So one day, my palate led me to dice some watermelon and to mix it with a sliced cucumber --brought back from summer holidays, from my grandpa's garden. The result was hydrating and flavorful. I just added a handful of peppery rocket for a little boost and seasoned all with salt, pepper, olive oil.
No fuss lunch, and a nap afterwords, right before starting the rest of the day.

Finché le giornate resteranno solari e calde come sono ora, le insalate continueranno ad essere protagoniste della mio pranzo.
Fresche, leggere, facili da preparare, colorate. Niente di strabiliante ma sempre gustoso e nuovo per battere la monotonia.
Al mercato continuo a vedere i produttori esporre il meglio della stagione estiva: pomodori, peperoni, enormi angurie vicino a minuscoli mirtilli. E io non son riuscita a resistere, ho comprato l'ultima anguria.
Così, un giorno, mi son fatta guidare dal mio palato curioso, e ho tagliato dell'anguria a dadini e messa insieme a del cetriolo a fettine. Una manciata di rucola piccantina, sale, pepe, olio. Pronta.
Pausa pranzo senza problemi e con il tempo per un sonnellino ristoratore prima di iniziare il resto della giornata.
